A Tasmanian-owned family business, built on craftsmanship
Hobart Renovations connects people, spaces, and lifestyles through exceptional craftsmanship.
Skilled trades, honest advice, and a genuine care for the finished result
Hobart Renovations was established to meet a straightforward need: Hobart homeowners deserve access to skilled, professional tradespeople who treat a renovation like it’s their own home, not just another job on the list.
We’re a Tasmanian-owned family business, and that shapes how we work. We’re not a call centre booking out subcontractors we’ve never met — we’re a local team who lives with the reputation we build in this city, suburb by suburb.
Whether you’re renovating a single bathroom in a Battery Point cottage or reworking an entire home in Kingston, we believe you deserve the same thing: top-quality tradespeople, clear communication, and a result that actually improves how you live in your home.

Kane Knight founded Hobart Renovations to bring a genuinely end-to-end renovation service to Greater Hobart — one where a single team manages the whole project, rather than homeowners having to coordinate a plumber, tiler, electrician and cabinetmaker themselves.
Kane Knight is personally involved in every project Hobart Renovations takes on, from the first site visit through to final handover, and stands behind the quality of every job the team completes.
What you can expect from us
Straight Talk
We’ll tell you what a renovation will genuinely cost and how long it will genuinely take — not the most optimistic version of either.
Done Properly
Waterproofing, plumbing and electrical work is completed and certified to Australian Standards on every job, every time.
Built Around Your Home
Hobart’s housing stock varies enormously — we plan every renovation around the home we’re actually working in.

Compliance isn’t a marketing line — it’s a framework we work to
Renovation work in Tasmania sits under a real regulatory framework, and we work to it on every job rather than treating it as optional paperwork:
- Building work is assessed against the Building Act 2016 (Tas), and we tell you upfront if your project needs a building permit
- Plumbing is carried out by CBOS-licensed plumbers, certified accordingly
- Wet areas are waterproofed to AS 3740, the Australian Standard for wet-area waterproofing
- Properties in heritage areas are checked against Heritage Tasmania’s requirements or local council heritage precincts before work starts
You’re also protected by the standard consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law regardless of what any individual contract says — see our guide on choosing a renovation builder in Hobart for more on what that means in practice.
Renovation, done properly — that’s all we do
We focus deliberately on internal residential renovations, so every project gets our full attention rather than being spread across unrelated work.
